15 Things Macgyver Taught Me about: THE 80's

In my house we have to watch episodes of tv that we missed until there are no more episodes to watch.
What are we watching right now?
Macgyver.
Yup you heard me. And because I dont watch much tv im stuck watching whatever happens to be on for the
20 minutes i actually have to relax.
So right now we have to watch EVERY SINGLE Macgyver episode EVER MADE in order for life to be complete.
Unfortunatly, for me this is not my first go in the world of Macgyver. I grew up in a house with Macgyver. Macgyver music in the background, Macgyver references,Macgyver jokes, all of it....it was part of the daily routine aside from adjusting the rabbit ears....but as a tribute to my crazy husband (look at my husband ya'll)
i figured i would share the amazing-ness that is
Richard Dean Anderson who was the one and only Macgyver.
 (your welcome.)

  1. The 80's was dirty. A very very dirty place. No matter what episode, no matter where, its dirty.
  2. The Ghetto was around every corner. Corner after corner after corner. There was no escape.
  3. Everything was dramatic!  When someone needed help it was"End of the world im GONNA die nothing is going to make this better WHO WILL SAVE ME!!????" kinda help. i mean couldnt you just ask? why all the dramatics?
  4. They only made one type of car in the 80's: The Ford Ltd. and it could do ANYTHING. You could jump it, hot wire it, have the longest car chase in it, light it on fire, crash it, run stuff over in it, and it would still run like a champ. It didnt matter who you were...a punk in the street or the high class white collar businessman you had a Ford Ltd.
  5. Friends in the 80's only wanted you to get them out of trouble. That was it. No other reason for you to be friends with people other than the fact that they needed help.
  6. Nerds were cool. They had all the chicks and all the smarts.
  7. Technology was on the cutting edge in the 80's. Top of the line printers, and computers, and laboratories. But Macgyver still preferred libraries and good ol' pencil and paper.
  8. Everyone wore down-filled outdoor vests. Yup everyone. it was cool. My dad has one. He still wears it to this day.
  9. Nike was big in the 80's. No matter WHERE you were everyone was  able to afford Nike shoes. Those were the days people. Those were the days....
  10. Offices were dark and drab. It was SO professional back then. Dark walls, dark furniture, dark books on the shelves, dark decorations, dark wall paneling. And AND for added affect they had windows in their offices..with the shades shut tightly of course.
  11. Turtlenecks were also a big part of fashion. Men, women, kids all adored the wonderful turtlenecks. Women wore them with there stylish feathered hair and jean jackets, men wore them under their down-filled vests, and Macgyver out did them all. He prefered to wear is turtle neck with a cozy Minnesotan flannel shirt and then top it with his down-filled vest. So hot!
  12. Everyone in the 80's chewed gum. It was ridiculousness!
  13. Everyday essentials people carried in there pockets were a Swiss army knife, rubber bands and paper clips. Macgyver also carried duct tape. Because hes Macgyver, thats why!!!
  14. In the 80's everyone lived life to the fullest. Right down to the last few seconds. Or pennies. Which ever came first.
  15. In the 80's it is always the person you first suspect. Even after they grow on you a bit and they end up become the last person you suspect. Go with your first suspicion. Thats what Macgyver did and look at him today!

Again, your welcome.
