Never Ending WINTER!!!

Holy FROZEN TOES my PEEPS!!!

Isn't this ridiculousness??!!!

For those of you following my blog that aren't from the local area.
Let me get you up to speed...

Local for us is:

Good ol'
Minnesota.

More specifically....
Little town called Monticello.
We are usually right on the boarder of most cold/hot fronts.
The cities will get snow and we will get nothing.
or the cities will get TONS of snow and we will get rain.
(when i say cities i mean Minneapolis/St. Paul)

But here in MN we get all the fun stuff. :)

Except for spring.

Right now we have been getting snow up to our EYEBALLS!!

Now don't get me wrong. Us Minnesotans LOVE snow.
Just not at the end of April.
We like to wear shorts in April.
EMM'I RIGHT PEOPLE?

Anyway. We are ready for spring here.
We have  a serious case of the spring itch.
We have LISTS of spring cleaning that MUST be done.

Cabin fever is at an all time HIGH!!!
 This was us last week:

We built some snowmen. IN APRIL!!!
(and shoveled 3 TIMES!!)
(That was just Thursday...
...you should have seen it Friday...the snowmen MULTIPLIED!!)

"oh it will melt" You say.
Well right you are! And it did.
But guess what?
Its snowing again!!!
"Well, it wont amount to anything! Its April" You say.
Well if when you say "anything" you mean "6-9 inches"
Then RIGHT YOU ARE!!!
So to Recap:
We live in Minnesota
(Monticello to be exact)
Its April
AND IT WONT STOP SNOWING!!!

So. Now that you are up to speed we can continue.
:)

MY PEEPS! I KNOW YOU ARE GOING CRAZY!!

What Back to the Future taught me about the 80's

Yes we are reliving the 80's at my house....why do you ask? :D
Because the previous post about MacGyver and the 80's was such a hit
I thought we would have another go at it.
This time with Back To The Future.
Mr. Wonderfuls' all time favorite movie.
He has wanted to get the trilogy
FOR-EV-ER!
-and he finally did.
And it has taken us back.
HO-LY - COW!!!
So once again I bring the inspiring time in which technology was on the brink of serious revolution, styles were outrageously awesome, and nothing was impossible.....

1. First and far most. Mr. Fox was a HOTTY. Yup lets just get that out there and out of the way. Here for your viewing pleasure, is proof:

okay. one more. just to seal the deal....

Yup.

2. The clothes (once again) were totally awesome. Layers upon layers upon Nike shoes.

See that?
t-shirt. check
button up flannel. check
jean jacket. check
puffy sweater vest. check
(and not a drop of sweat.)
glorious Nike shoes. Check.

3. Continuing with the clothes...the Jean Jacket made its debut!!!

and notice that the color of the denim does NOT match.
That is style right THUR!
and you may or may not wear it with you puffy sweater vest!
the options are ENDLESS!
ENDLESS!
MOVING ON!!

4. Gas Mileage meant nothing.

being awesome was all that mattered.

5. Science was cool. WAY COOL

We got introduced to the flux compacitor:

a real scientist:

and whatever a gigawhat is.....

We learned so much back then!

 6. Off roading was taboo until BACK TO THE FUTURE!

7. Also it was very bright in the 80's cause everyone had sunglasses.....

....or was it the future that was bright? hmmmm.....?

15 Things Macgyver Taught Me about: THE 80's

In my house we have to watch episodes of tv that we missed until there are no more episodes to watch.
What are we watching right now?
Macgyver.
Yup you heard me. And because I dont watch much tv im stuck watching whatever happens to be on for the
20 minutes i actually have to relax.
So right now we have to watch EVERY SINGLE Macgyver episode EVER MADE in order for life to be complete.
Unfortunatly, for me this is not my first go in the world of Macgyver. I grew up in a house with Macgyver. Macgyver music in the background, Macgyver references,Macgyver jokes, all of it....it was part of the daily routine aside from adjusting the rabbit ears....but as a tribute to my crazy husband (look at my husband ya'll)
i figured i would share the amazing-ness that is
Richard Dean Anderson who was the one and only Macgyver.
 (your welcome.)

  1. The 80's was dirty. A very very dirty place. No matter what episode, no matter where, its dirty.
  2. The Ghetto was around every corner. Corner after corner after corner. There was no escape.
  3. Everything was dramatic!  When someone needed help it was"End of the world im GONNA die nothing is going to make this better WHO WILL SAVE ME!!????" kinda help. i mean couldnt you just ask? why all the dramatics?
  4. They only made one type of car in the 80's: The Ford Ltd. and it could do ANYTHING. You could jump it, hot wire it, have the longest car chase in it, light it on fire, crash it, run stuff over in it, and it would still run like a champ. It didnt matter who you were...a punk in the street or the high class white collar businessman you had a Ford Ltd.
  5. Friends in the 80's only wanted you to get them out of trouble. That was it. No other reason for you to be friends with people other than the fact that they needed help.
  6. Nerds were cool. They had all the chicks and all the smarts.
  7. Technology was on the cutting edge in the 80's. Top of the line printers, and computers, and laboratories. But Macgyver still preferred libraries and good ol' pencil and paper.
  8. Everyone wore down-filled outdoor vests. Yup everyone. it was cool. My dad has one. He still wears it to this day.
  9. Nike was big in the 80's. No matter WHERE you were everyone was  able to afford Nike shoes. Those were the days people. Those were the days....
  10. Offices were dark and drab. It was SO professional back then. Dark walls, dark furniture, dark books on the shelves, dark decorations, dark wall paneling. And AND for added affect they had windows in their offices..with the shades shut tightly of course.
  11. Turtlenecks were also a big part of fashion. Men, women, kids all adored the wonderful turtlenecks. Women wore them with there stylish feathered hair and jean jackets, men wore them under their down-filled vests, and Macgyver out did them all. He prefered to wear is turtle neck with a cozy Minnesotan flannel shirt and then top it with his down-filled vest. So hot!
  12. Everyone in the 80's chewed gum. It was ridiculousness!
  13. Everyday essentials people carried in there pockets were a Swiss army knife, rubber bands and paper clips. Macgyver also carried duct tape. Because hes Macgyver, thats why!!!
  14. In the 80's everyone lived life to the fullest. Right down to the last few seconds. Or pennies. Which ever came first.
  15. In the 80's it is always the person you first suspect. Even after they grow on you a bit and they end up become the last person you suspect. Go with your first suspicion. Thats what Macgyver did and look at him today!

Again, your welcome.

Cabin Fever Checklist

Its cold out there my peeps!

A bit too cold for making snowmen and building an igloo.

But FEAR NOT my little wombats! I have your cabin fever checklist.

Sure to squander any left over feelings of boredom, claustrophobic-ness, and irritability!

 Let's get started!

1) Make your most awesomest hot chocolate concoction ever know to mankind!
This isnt your standard H.C. this is Frozen Tundra H.C. Think: pop rocks, popcorn, chocolate, mini marshmallows  sprinkles, whipped cream, and any other wild and crazy H.C. mix-in's you can think of!

2) Get suited up!
Its cold out there! Make sure you have the right gear on!
Get your fuzziest, warmest, most favorite pj's on coordinated
with the your most comfortable hoody!

3) Bunker down and build a shelter.
Get your kitchen chairs, benches and all the pillows and blankets you can find and set up camp and wait this cold freeze out!

4) Play a board game.
Your thinkin:"Who plays board games anymore?" Well in a Minnesota deep freeze we do. But its a bit different , in a deep freeze we play them ALL AT ONCE.
Now, you can set them all up and play each game separately AT THE SAME TIME OR you can combine the game boards and pieces and make up your own new game!

5) Have a snack.
Ice cream sounds good right about now doesn't it?
Just like a true Minnesotan....

6) Movie Time!!
What was your favorite movie when you were seven?
That's what were watching!
Let the eye rolls and giggles begin!

7) Make a Collage
Remember the last time you did that?! Crazy it was like fifth grade, right?
Time to make some memories. Use photo's, magazine cut outs, WORD ART,
doodles, and any other crafty supply you have. Don't forget a title for your newest work of art!

8) Grilled Cheese Time!!
Nothing is better on a cold day than a ooey gooey grilled cheese sandwich.

9) Scavenger Hunt Time!
Time yourself see if you can beat your own best score. Try it backwards.
Find: a toothbrush, light bulb, dog toy, dirty sock, loofa, empty/near empty shampoo bottle, snow flake, stuffed dolphin, slipper, shoe lace, bowling ball, maple tree, coffee cup with a face on it, fork with bent prong, brown sugar, laundry soap, shovel, small child, squeeky chair, cream of tarter.

Last but least:

10) Random Picture Contest.
Take ten random pictures.
Send them to your friends.
See who guesses the most right.

Reward them with a visit from YOU and do the list all over again!!!

Who are you?

Interestingly enough SOME PEOPLE just want to JUDGE.

Hats of to those people. I hope you feel better and can sleep at night.

I hate it when others who dont know a thing about another person
or anything in that persons life feel "obligated" to "speak their mind."

Well its my turn.

SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP!

To all those out there that:

Can't find happiness in their own life and have to meddle in other peoples lives

Dont know who they are or what they want to become as a person

Are living in the past

Point out other peoples faults to make themselves feel good about themselves

Don't understand so they place blame

Hurt others because they can

Want what they cant have

Say/do something that cant be taken back/undone and expect others to forgive/forget.

Are unapologetic

This is for all those people.

Who are you to tell me who I am?
(I dont want to hear it ANYMORE.)
Who are you to tell me who I should be?
(My life is not up for discussion.)
What gives you the right?
(your "obligation" is to yourself not me and your not fooling anyone.)
What makes you think you know whats best for me?
(Nevermind, I dont care what you think.)

Get your life together before you take it upon yourself to "fix" other peoples lives.
Figure out who you are before you judge other peoples character.
Think before you speak.
Words cannot be unsaid.
Actions cannot be undone.

Friends are the Best!

They show up unexpectedly. Ready for fun!

They encourage you to exercise, very subtle like.

They kiss your boo-boo's

Their confidence is your confidence.

They always make sure you have a good time when your together.

They let you know when you need to rest up a bit and take it easy.

They let you know that no matter how awkward you are,
they are more awkward then you'll ever be.

They listen. Even when their tired.

They Laugh at you when you fall on your butt.

They Love you unconditionally.

And finally:
They let you be your fabulous self!
